Attorney and Businessman Joey LaHatte to Run For Council District 3 Seat in Kenner

KENNER, LA – Kenner businessman Joseph “Joey” LaHatte announced today his decision to seek the Kenner Council District 3 seat this spring.

LaHatte, 40, is an attorney with a long history of protecting consumers against insurance companies and serves as Vice President of the Driftwood Park Civic Association.

Said LaHatte, “I have remained very active in civic organizations. But this is my first run for public office. Now is the right time for me to dedicate myself to public service to improve our community and neighborhoods. I am dedicated to improving our infrastructure, supporting our police and firefighters, ridding our district of blight, growing our economy, and creating more opportunities for working families to thrive in Kenner. I have the time, skills and will to serve the constituents of District 3 with vision and vitality.”

LaHatte, Republican, is a graduate of Jesuit High School, LSU where he earned a degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences, and Loyola Law School. While in Law School, LaHatte participated in the John Marshall National Moot Court Tournament on the nation’s runner-up team out of more than 200 competitors.

LaHatte is married to the former Virginia Taffaro and together they have three children: Caroline (13), Charlotte (12) and Daniel (9).

Said LaHatte, “I want to better develop our city to give our children strong reasons to stay in Kenner. We can create a better city through consensus building and more input from community leaders. As a councilman, I will conduct regular town hall meetings to discuss projects that will improve our overall quality of life.”

LaHatte rekindled the Driftwood Park Civic Association from 8 members to more than 150 households now being represented at regular community meetings. He is the former Vice President of the Girard Playground Booster Club, a member of the Orleans Bar Association, a member of the Jefferson Bar Association, and a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. He is a member of St. Ann Men’s Club, and a member of both the Tiger Rag Band and the LSU Alumni Band.
